Anyone done, or doing this now?
Pro's / Cons anyone?

I've been doing it for a couple of months now, without any issues.
I am currently keeping >>>

2x Small Pleco's
20x Snails
30x Various Shrimp

I use my 30gal sump 4 fry tank r emergency tank, but it works fine

I built a section of my sump that is fed about 2-300 gallons per hour from my return pump. Right now it houses a bristlenose pleco, a pictus catfish, a betta, and a bunch of live plants.

been doing it for years. No problem at all. Why should there be. It is, after all, a "filtered" tank.

I love your set up your tank on top look like a flat screen tv nice

I had a 180 up top and 55 sump. Found a chinese algae eater in between one of my sections and felt he deserved to go back into the big tank... then my dat literally jumped out of the water to eat him.

I would say that the fish was happier in the sump than my big tank ahha.

I think as long as the animal, whatever it is, isn't able to be sucked into the return and is fed properly, its a great way to add extra "filters" to your system. Clams, snails, shrimp etc, could all live in there and be happy. ("happy"):)
