Has anyone ever kept longnose gars? If so what size tank did you have it in and what water conditions did you give it, The reason i ask is because these gar have a large range and the water conditions would differ depending on which part of the US they are from.

Never kept them myself, but was curious about this as well. I'd love to add one or two to one of my larger setups, but I can't for the life of me find them here in NY. Anyone wanna help me out? LOL.

same here no Long nose anywhere near me, I keep looking though

arent they native where you guys live? just go fishing and maybe youll get lucky!

Longnosed (L. osseus) may be very widely distributed but in realty they are still spotty in distribution. Some areas they are very common and abundant, in others they are non-existant or very low in numbers.

I have kept many from various localities both in the northern and southern parts of their range and have not noticed any difference (husbandry wise) in water preferences. They all seem to do well with just clean water of around neutral pH and moderate hardness.

Deathcurl..PM me..I might be able to help you out..
