i have a 55g long tank and its gets up to 86 in the day time how do i keep it cool I've been freezing 4 bottles of water and putting them in anything else i could do:nilly:

they do sell titanium chillers but they are a bit expensive.you can try opening the lids to let the heat out and or turn off the lights is they produce heat.

86F shouldn't be that bad... you're keeping tropical fish right?

but if you must, i've tried freezing a bottle of water (use plastic bottles 90% filled), and just float the bottle (capped).

Sounds like the best solution to me.

Have a fan blow across the top of the water. The evaporation of the water will cause a cooling effect.
