Hey guys,

I've got a 4x1.5x2 with the following fish:

- 2x adult [25-30cm] P. Senegalus
- 9x Congo tetras
- 2x adult [10-12cm] synodontis petricola
- 3x adult kribensis cichlids (+ ~10 fry)
- 1x african butterfly fish

I want to get one or two mono sebaes. I know they are meant to be brackish fish but from what I've heard and read (subject to much conflicts of information and contradictions) they can be kept in fw for life.

Has anyone kept mono sebaes with senegals? I'm more worried about the monos nipping the senegals than the other way around. My bichirs are harmless and don't even go after the krib fry in the tank.

Or, do you think my tank is too/over stocked?

Any info would be great.

Cheers

Andrew

i have kept a pair of mono sebae (approx 15cm tall) with a female 26cm senegal bichir without any issue. I have not seem my monos nip anybody on the community tank. they like to follow though my rays and eats bits of food being spit by they rays. I'm not sure of your smaller fish though as they may end up as food when the bichirs gets hungry - specially they are mature and full grown.

Also the tank is not brackish and i don't even add salt on it. I bought the pair coming from a freshwater tank and had been kept there by the previous owner for years. Monos are still alive and kicking.
