Just curious about being able to keep multiple parachromis together in a 5x2x2, obviously NOT Dovii nor Jags.
Can't seem to find much info on this in tanks under the 250g mark, maybe thats information in itself but those few examples seem to be on about keeping Dovii with the others which I am in no way interested in doing.

I mean keeping a couple of Loisellei, a Mota, a Freddy and/or La Ceiba. Unfortunately my tank is too small to keep all of them but maybe ok for some.
Tank mates would be 9.5" female midas (very calm), clown loaches, syno decorus cats and an albino BN pleco.
Filtration will be a 23g sump with three 100 micron socks and bio media (when I finish it off).

I have two 1.5" Loisellei on the way soon (hopefully). I got 2 as insurance against one dying (I want Loisellei badly) but it got me thinking about keeping multiple Parachromis rather than selling one if they both survive and grow.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I say its very possible, but definitely grow them out together in a group and let them find they're harmony if it is possible, by thinning out the biggest aggressors. And you might have to keep the tank with minimal decor so they don't get territorial. Good luck and please keep us posted if you do.

From what I have found with parachromis (not dovii) is they are mean as hell...Not sure about multiple in a 5x2x2 unless there is a spawning pair...and if that happens the other fish in there will suffer. Just my .02

I had a male and female la cibia in a 125....the male systematically killed off about 4 different fish before almost killing the female he eventually bonded with. Then a I had a rtm kill a female rtm in a 55 that he had spawned with before...through a divider but spawned non the less.

i've been very lucky with mine...got a breeding pair of jags in a 125 gal with a 5" loisellei, 4" red sev pair, a 5" buttikoferi, a 4" male JD, 4" red devil, 4" pleco and a 2" convict. somehow they all live in harmony and the 7" male jag is not really aggressive. the pair just occupies a third of the tank and the others just keep out of their area.

OK, thanks for the replies. I thought it may be a long shot in my tank. I will take some time to mull it over.

LoL you're lucky? This is not an example even worth mentioning to the OP, it's doesn't help him whatsoever. Of course the fish are getting along pretty good for now, none of them have matured yet...the jag is probably just getting there.

I keep 3 grown Jags and a Freddy in a tank also shared by a big Midas. My tank is big and the fish have space to have their own territories. Been like that for quite some time with no problems beyond the "normal" show of strenght.
