So when i get another oscar since the first one jumped out of the 3'' space between the glass tops and where the filters/heaters are i was wondering how i could make this space jump proof?

You can buy a piece of the black plastic that slides on the lid at the back of the tank and cut it so only the filter and heater parts will fit in the holes also helps slow down evaporation.
I use bits of acrylic for holes like that. Check old pictures at thrift stores for "glass" that's actually plastic. Very versatile stuff, bigger the better.
