Last week I got in 2.2 pounds of Hikari Massivore, and I was wondering what do you guys do to keep your fish food fresh? Currently I have them in different mason jars. Should I put them in the freezer and only keep out as much as I need for a month or two?

Thank you in advance!

This is what I do.. Get an empty bag which was meant for fish food and then fill it up and feed the fish from the filled up bag which is smaller of course. Then seal the big bag of food air tight and only open it to refill the smaller bag. exposing it to "new" air will age the food faster and decrease its potency.

what you mean by keeping the dry food fresh?

I do what the above user mentioned. I take out a handful and put it in a ziplock bag and then refrigerate the rest, only taking it out to refill the ziplock.

Basically how do people store their pellets when they order in bulk

I think I'm gonna do the zip lock thing and put them in the freezer. As I use up a zip lock bag, I will pull the next one out from the freezer. Do I defrost just by leaving in room temperature?

I don't freeze or refrigerate mine also. Just make sure its air tight and only open to take out a months or two worth.
