I recently switched to sand, an I noticed when fish swim by filter intakes an when eating an such they stir a bit up an some gets into the filter. ( i looked at filter pad.) Some could have been from when I put the new sand it. Tank was a little cloudy when I turned filters on. Is it bad to have sand in filtration? I got 2x marineland HOB with Bio wheel each rated over my tank. ( p's in my tank )

Is a little sand common?

Sand will eventually wear the impeller down causing lower GPH............

So I eventually need to buy new impellers? where can those be found at?

Well, what make and model filters do you have?? Or you could just cut and install a sponge over the intake tube to keep the sand out.........

2X marineland pinguens bio-wheels. Each of them rated 10 gal over my tank.

What kind of sponge and what do I do just cut the sponge to fit in the in the tubes Any links or info about these sponges? I know nuthing about sponges but heard alot of talk about them on here. That wouldnt that slow the Rate of the water filtering cycle down? or over work my pump in the filter?

And another question not exactly on subject but someone is, Some small particals of food ( shrimp shell) tiny peice of stuff like that. I can see on the sand. No point of trying to suck all of it up because id lose alot of sand. Will that get breaken down over time? Since the filter dont seem to suck it up? Any ideas?

you can get a prefilter sponge

Use a sponge prefilter on your intake. Cichlids will frequently carry a mouthful of sand over to the intake and spit it directly in just to piss you off.

This one is available with a couple different sponge densities, and comes with a few different adapters so you should be able to make one of them work with your setup.

Just wrap a sponge aroudn the intake.
