Hi guys while looking through the gold/white suam pic thread (Why is that not a sticky!?) I noticed a guy was keeping several 'True' GT adults together with no problems! I have always been of the belief that this would not work but obviously it does at least with true GT's. So my questions are has anyone tried it? Does anyone know any info regarding keeping multiple GT adults or subadults together?

Lets assume adequate tank size is a given unless a tank size comment is relevant.

They work well with even numbers.

lol r u serious?

I ask a genuine question and I get a LOL, how old are you 12?
I'm deadly serious and would appreciate proper answers from mature forum users instead of useless quipping. This is a fish forum is it not.

Check this out for multiple GT's - www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55682&page=49 look at ScottXGTR's post near the bottom of the page.

care to elaborate? was that a serious post or another joke like peathenster's post?

Anyone got any useful comments, with some actual detail?

One thing to note is that the guy in the post you mentioned has real rivulatus, not gold saum. I only own gold saum (I had two at most at the same time, both female) and they got along fine. I have heard Rivulatus act even more aggressive than gold saum.

I personally think (don't know for sure) that if the tank is big enough multiple should be fine. It appears that that is the case for the guy in the post you mentioned.

The LOL was directed to reply #1 (below), in particular the "even numbers" part. It was not directed to your original question.

I guess I should have quoted, or been quiet all together. But man you gotta chill a little.

Sorry dude just been allot of immature responses to my other posts recently and suppose my perspective towards a portion of MFK users has been tainted. Was under the impression that the thread was goin the same way. Sorry again.

Thanks for the input. I would of known if that guy was serious if he had elaborated more, short posts like that with no details arent very useful to anyone looking for info and although he meant well I would prefer no posts at all to a 6 word post. no wonder his post counts so high!

But Gold Seam ARE stlll Aequidens Rivulatus regardless of colour or how they've been selectively bred. My understanding is that 'true' wild Aequidens Rivulatus are the same species as gold/white seam which are just domesticated variants similar to the Wild Jack Dempsey / Electric blue Dempsey situation. am I wrong?

I think that needs a separate thread of it's own!!

Hey no worries. I'm starting a GT tank too and contemplating the same thing. Guess the common perception is that if you start with a young group, there's a better chance that you'd get compatible adults. But in my case it's not possible - already have an adult male.... was planning to throw in a female, watch closely, and hope for the best, but now that you brought it up, maybe I should try to throw in a few adults to get a pair formed? Sounds a bit awful...but it might work...
