So I wanted to keep some smaller fish with my firemouth and severum and bichirs. I decided i would try african cichlids as I've heard certain ones can be housed with american cichlids. I just got a jewel cichlid and it seems to be doing fine. My question is could i keep others or should i get another jewel

You can keep African Riverine Cichlids, since they don't have the specific requirements that Rift Valley Cichlids have.

I USED TO HAVE AN OSCAR, RED EMPRESS, JD, ACEI, RD, FRONTOSA, GT, YELLOW LAB, CONVICT, KENYI, SEVERUM, AND A FEW OTHER PEACOCKS IN THE SAME TANKS TOGETHER EVERYTHING WENT GOOD UNTIL THE OSCAR GOT TOO BIG AND ATE THEM ALL LOL

If you keep up the ph you can use whatever rift lake africans you choose as long as the aggression is matched. Most ca/sa are adaptable.
