I'm new to overflows and sumps. I have had my 400g running for a couple months now.

Seems to be that the tank has a hard time collecting floating debris and sucking it up being it just skims the surface. Any tips or tricks you guys got?

Return pump is 2400gph with 2- 2inch drains also have an overflow box

Direct your output and powerheads in a way that stirs things up or at least accumulates to one corner for easy siphon.

Try some polyfil in your sump it will catch everything. I direct my flow and I never have debris on the bottom anymore and since I have rays I never have anything but a clean surface like someone vacuumed if nice and clean lol

I noticed a noticeable difference after adding polyfil to the sump as mechanical filtration. Depending on the amount of bio load it can get clogged rather quickly. I change mine every three days
