Does anyone have any thoughts on keeping wild angels? I am thinking of having some imported from Peru and was just wondering if careing for them would be much different from captive bred angels? Thanks.
I have no personal experience in the matter. But from what I have read the only difference would be that they would benefit from some "blackwater" products. If you decide to get the fish do some research on the exact species you are getting and try to match the ph, temp, and water flow as best you can that is about all you can do.
I f there from peru then they are probaly p. scalare. If thats the case then they shouldn't be to much different to keep then captive bred angels. You might have to start them on live blackworms and then switch them over to other foods later on.
Sure, eventually you would have to upgrade, but you could get away with a 75 for a good amount of time, eventually if you still have all 15 they will need a 125. You could sell some of the fish off as they got bigger to make room. I think the most possible adults you could have in is eight.
get a real good filter and you should be fine i have wild angels i use no black water products and feed frozen and live foods blood worms, misis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, daphnia i have eloda in my tanks too they pic at it i also feed live ghost shrimp and when available black worms any other questions just ask either here or pm me

Thanks all. That helped me more. I should have plenty of filtration. I have a eheim professional wet/dry that is rated for a 92 gallon tank, a emporer 400 bio wheel, another two cartrige hang on the back, and another little thing made out of a powerhead that has like 10 bio balls in it that I used for a co2 reactor when I had my rainbows and my other live plants. I should be ok on the filtration. The water has a lot of moverment. I hope the angels like that! What do you think? Oh and if I have to a can get live adult brine shrimp at my local pet store every once in a while for a snack for them. I did it for my rainbows once and they loved it! Ok thank you all for the help. Anything else you can tell me or if you want to send me pictures of your wild angels in your tank please feel free to. My email is wildcatsw@yahoo.com. Thanks!
