is it legal to go and catch a blue gill out of a lake or pound and bring it home and keep it as a pet?

Check your fishing regulations first.

i tryed it doesn't say anything for upper michigan

I might be in the wrong here but the way I view it laws should be easy. Try calling your local wildlife division. Or.....just catch it and keep it. Just don't catch things and release them back into the wild.

your not in the wrong it just doesn't say if it illegal or legal but im still checking on it

the only problem you would run into is if you took a bass and it was only 6 inches and there was a 12inch min requirement to keep them

If it's in the pound you may want to consider leaving it there, chances are it bit someone and is waiting to be euthenized.. j/k:)
You will run into problems if the lake has size limits on the fish that can be taken out. Otherwise try and find someone with a pivate pond and catch what ever size you want. Good luck and make sure to post some pics of what you get!

Check the Michigan department of fish and wildlife. If you can't find it on there website, call them.

BTW, forgot to add, if it is a private lake or pond and you have permission, it should be ok, if it is public check the owner's rules, then the cities, then the counties, then the states. If all show up good, follow the guidelines and you should be fine, lol.
