over the past year i cant even count all the times i overflowed my refug under my tank in the stand. which damages the stand and the hard wood floors. when i upgraded from a 10g refug to a 20g i put a large piece of pond liner in the stand. stapled it 4 inches high all the way around. was the smartest thing i have ever done becauase one of the homemade dividers was too wide and cracked the tank that first night. all i had to do for clean up the next morning was suck the 10 gallons or more up with my shop vac.

last week i had another example of how this has saved my floor from getting wet. i was nervous about going out of town and leaving my reef tank to a roommate(my girlfriends friend who i already didnt like) to take care of. i showed her how much food to feed, how to remove bubbles from overflow box, and adding top off water. im not sure what happened but the 8itch overflowed the refugium and there was a bunch of water in the stand. it will also be useful next week when i finish my auto water top off next week.
