I’ve been looking for a Kelberi for my 125. Dimensions: 72”x18”x22”. This would be the only fish in the tank. Would a Kelberi be fine in the tank for life?

I would quite like to know this too, are any peacock bass small enough to live in a 125

The two species I could find are Cichla Kelberi and Cichla Intermedia. (I think that’s how you spell it.) Cichla Intermedia is hard to come by though.

How many would work in a 125? I’ve seen max size 18” but 12” more common

There are people on here who have gotten runt pbass that never grow more than 1 a foot. If you could people's runts, you probably could keep more than one.

(It seems this runt may have been fixed, I'm not sure.)
duanes duanes has mentioned that the pbass introduced to Panama are smaller than the same species elsewhere. Maybe you could get Panamanian pbass or figure out what makes them grow small.

I believe P bass that don't grow large in aquariums has to do with aquarists not doing enough water changes, or...their water is very hard, with high pH.
Here in Panama the lake they have become invasive in gets plenty of sea water infusion from the Panama Canal, so the pH often reaches @ 9.00, whereas the ones from the Amazon, and its surrounding tributaries seldom see a pH over 7, and is usually much lower, especially in the rainy season.
