So it has begun...
All fish but the 2 kelberi and 2 large Red Hook Metynnis have been removed from the tank. The kelberi will have free range of the tank with no need to worry about a pike or Hoplarchus tagging them. They can now establish a territory and feel as if it is their tank.
Feeding will now consist of nothing but gut loaded feeders. The feeders will be gut loaded with various foods directly prior to being fed themselves to the Cichla. Hopefully this will improve nutrition and I'll see increased growth, color and overall vigor.
Water is now reverse osmosis treated with kepatang leaves. Again, we'll see what this does for growth, color and overall vigor. I've heard good things.
Water changes will consist of 70 gallons per day of the above described water.
I'll give it a month and see how it goes. Hopefully they are a pair and fall in love.
