I frown on mixing cichlids from different regions, as in my past I did and the Africans were always more aggressive...initially. Anyway, an acquantaince of mine was preparing to move, and he had to get rid of his fish quick. He said he was going to flush them. I told him to hold off on that and I ran by and saved them. They were a firemouth and a kenyi. At the time I had my breeding cons in a tank, so I added them to it. The firemouth drew the bulk of the beating; it might have lasted 15 minutes. The kenyi was fine as long as he didn't venture into con territory.

I recently upgraded to a 40 breeder, as my male con I feel was getting to large to live in a 20 long. I added my kenyi also. I'm pretty sure down the road I'm going to wind up with a dead fish, but I do have 2 distinct territories set up and the tank is 3 feet long.

What say you?

Kenyi are pound for pound one of the most aggressive mbuna out there. Maybe even one of the most aggressive cichlids out there. But 2 beats 1 every time. He will more than likely get killed in time.

Well I split my breeding pair up. My female is in a 20 long, and my male is in the 40 gallon with the kenyi. My male is significantly larger then the kenyi, and is the king of the tank for now...
