I seem to remember a warning (or prophecy, if you will) about Mbu puffers hating the fins of gars...and...well...

The great thing is how she has expensive taste. Completely ignores my Florida and goes for the new tropical I put in the tank.

I think it might have been a sort of "welcome to the tank" bit of aggression as she has ignored the tropical since, and the gar doesn't seem too afraid of her.

This actually happened about a week ago but I'm just posting the photo. Looked much worse day of. The gar is healing up and eating fine but you can tell he has to put in a little extra effort to swim about.

e.d. Should have put this in lessons learned. Maybe somebody can move it?

You need to put a pic of the puffer on here also so we can see the gar hater.

Yeah, I don't really have another tank to house the gars though. Might just section them off for the time being and see how that goes. The thing that bugs me is that the puffer completely ignores the Florida, and I've even seen the tropical more or less swimming on her head. And the Florida and tropical are basically the same size/shape, although their coloration is a little different. I'm clearly going to have to do some rearranging--she also decapitated a rope fish, haha. At least she has no interest in chichlids/chichla and dats so far.

It's just a function of getting some time to get my new camera together. I work like 9-8 most days, so I haven't had a chance yet. There's a video on my other threads related to it of me putting her in the tank, but I won't have pics up for at least a couple of days. Cell phone pics just don't do it justice.
