Hey everyone. After being out of freshwater for almost 6 months I am getting my feet wet once again. This time im entering with some fish I have always wanted to keep. Cichla! This will be my thread for questions and updates on how they are growing, feeding, adapting, and coloring up. My gf said she would buy me some fish for valentines day....she loves getting me new fish. :). So I have decided Im going to go and get 4x mono or ocel pbass...not sure on the species at such a small size. Hope you guys can help me figure that out when they get bigger! Enough of my rambling....hope you will enjoy this thread...growing pbass from 2" to true 24" monsters!

First question.
How warm should their water be? I know my large cats love it around 80-82°. What would be best?

Thanks for looking and sharing my adventure into C.R.E.A.Mdom!

First off on temp 84 to 86 F steady they will love it:)And good luck with your adventure and believe me it will be there are plenty of ups and downs in this game for sure:headbang2

The temps that you mentioned should be fine for young cichla and they can stand it a little warmer. My question is how big of a tank do you have or are planning to get in the near future?

Im waiting for tractor supply to get more 6' diameter 24" high 350 gallon stock tanks back in stock. They will be going from the 29 quarentine, to the 125 grow out, to the stock tank. Or just the quarentine to the stock tank if they get them in within the next 8 weeks. I am well prepared for this! And thanks hulon i will crank the heater a little more :D

Next question. I have frozen bloodworms, tilapia/whiteing fillets will these be good foods to fatten them up?

How do you plan on covering the stock tank? You know these guys are Olympic jumpers right? lol. Just making sure you have your bases covered.

Haha okay! Can anyone answer my question about whether tilapia fillets, whiting fillets, and frozen bloodworms would be good for plumping the babies up?

those are good foods to feed as long as they take them.
