how the heck do you tell them apart?

i ended up paying $20+ for what i thought was a kenyi. at the register the guy goes its a demasoni. i bought him anyways.

but how do you tell the difference?

Got a pic? Should be quite easy to tell the difference between a dem and a kenyi...

Yea post a pic should be rally easy to tell apart

Btw $20+ for a kenyi? Id believe that for a really nice adult male demasoni

Demansoni's are beautiful fish, not to mention not as easy to find as say a common run of the mill kenyi!!!:) Demansoni's tend to be really dark in color....deep blues and dark striping.............;)

If you had spent 20 on a kenyi you would have been totally ripped off. Even 20 for a demasoni that isn't of good size is too much to pay. Learn before you shop. . . or go research before you buy what you're looking at. Ignorance is how small pet shops make their money.

When i bouht the Demesoni it was about 4 years ago. they were located next to the keyni tank. and his colors were not that bright. I never heard of a demasoni before. and i live in hawaii so i'm pretty sure back then they were practicaly unheard of.

so i picked out what i thought was a kenyi cause thats the chichlid i like. but i found out at the register it was a demesoni.

my pride told me to just by the fish and not look cheep infront of my gf. lol.

it ended up being a nice fish. i just need to get it a nicer tank.

ps. i just went to another pet store. and i guess somone is breeding them. they sell for 9.95 now. i was goin to buy some more but i don't know if i got a male or female. and i don't know how to tell them apart.
