i am seeing a ph swing in my tanks and cant figure out whats going on exactly. here is the parameters for both tanks
250 gallon(dual 125's)
ph 7.2
kh 35
temp 80
substrate lowes play sand and lowes river rock pebbles.
rocks are arkansas shell(probably limestone and clay) and river rock. cypress driftwood.
plants are hornwart and bamboo
this ph stays steady
20 gallon
ph 6.4 currently
kh less then 17
temp 78
substrate lowes river rock pebbles. no sand
rocks are arkansas shell and river rock . no driftwood.
plants are hornwart, calabris? and bamboo
this ph dropped over night and is steady at 6.4
tap
ph is 7.2
kh 35
now for the question. is it possible with such a low kh that the plants in the 20 gallon are sapping all the minerals lowering the kh and lowering the ph? is it as simple as adding crushed coral to the tanks to raise the kh to insure the ph stays? i was thinking about trying to get the kh up as high as i can wihtout raising the ph any at all.
