Okay I'm cycling....I've pretty much settled on an Angelfish tank...but.

Sigh. I just wish the Angels were more colorful.

So...is there a pair of fish I could have that would be more colorful?

Here is what I want-

pair of largeish centerpiece fish (will start with several fish to get a pair)

school of 12-15 tetras

5 Bolivian rams

BN pleco OR 5 otto catfish (negotiable, not neccessary)

possibly cory catfish

**what I REAALY want is a decent size school of tetras, and the bolivians, with 2 good sized attention getting fish that won't terrorize the other fish**

could a pair of blue acaras work??

TIA!!!

Oh- standard 55 gal, ph 7.2, planted tank, hardness 150 ppm, weekly w/c, eco-complete substrate, tetra whisper 60 filter

I think the acaras would pester the rest, especially the rams. I would just go with more rams. If by pair, you mean male and female, that could be bad too.

you could have a blue acara or a keyhole cichlid.

Rainbow Cichlids?

Discus seem perfect for you. They can get a little larger, they are incredible looking, not to mention I believe they have the peacefulness of angelfish (I could be wrong). You should check out the Discus section on here, because I believe you can even fit 5 in a 55. I think it was 1 discus for ever 10 gallons. Buuut...you are going to have other fish. I dunno, I agree with Amaroq with the discus.

i currently in my 55g planted driftwood tank : 3 curviceps or dorsiegas, 1 pike cichlid comps. , 1 hrp, 1 bumble bee jelly cat, 3 juli cory cats, 1 skunk cory, 7 harlequin tetras, and 7 orange glowlite neon tetras. and its so much fun to watch. its heavily planted.
oh sorry for spellings.

Well, I thought about Discus...but I'm wanting a moderately/heavily planted tank with 1/week WC's so they wouldn't be ideal.

I ended up getting a pair of Angels. I've really only see juv Angels in person, and wow, these adults were just beautiful! But then I wondered, how would I be sure the juv's I got would turn out that pretty? So I asked and they were a mated pair and I snatched em up lol! I am super duper happy with them- not an ounce of regret!

Thanks for the suggestions- I didn't mean to post and dash, but when I checked, I swear it said no replies...weird..but anyways.

So now I think I'm going with the Angels, Lemons, Panda Corys, and Bolivians.

The angels are Veiltails and just stunning!
