Kids Tank

So I told my daughter we could use an old tank I had sitting around to upgrade her little betta tank and she could decorate it however she wanted.
After a trip to the LFS we now have this psychedelic Disney nightmare completed. They know me pretty well at the shop and I noticed a few raised eyebrows when I was paying for it all.
At least she chose a small school of neons and a few zebra danios for tankMates which are sort of appropriate.
Maybe I should just be a smart arse and enter it in the next TOTM, Gourami Swami would probably yell at me!

Looks good from a kids pov, but i would be careful of the coloured stones leaching chemicals into the water and of the artificial plants , which if , has hard leaves could potentially damage the betta's fins while resting over it.

Seriously though, it's great she's showing an interest. I wish my 9 year old would show some interest in my tanks.

The only problem is, what are you going to say to her when, for her 6th birthday she wants a 300g predator tank, lol.

Beautiful biotope. I'm sure your daughter loves it. Great to get the kids interested in such things. Could you ask her if I can use these pics in my next natural display tanks thread ?

The colored gravel brings back memories of my Mother's setups. I agree that's great your Daughter has a interest in the fish keeping hobby ?

Thanks for humouring me guys, I must say it has been nice and fun setting this up even though it goes against all my aquatic principles.
I didn’t go so far as hooking up an air pump so bubbles come out of Mickey and plutos mouths as that was a step too far.

the daughter loves it and her new fish and that’s really the whole point of it.

One thing I didn’t expect was the betta to be so aggressive with his new companions, he was by himself in a tiny tank for a year and had this one all to himself for 24 hours,I added 2 zebra danios and 5 neons and he flared up and started chasing the danios relentlessly. He’s settled a bitnow but still all puffed up and letting them know he’s king of the pink palace
