I have a 3 inch kilin parrot, when nobody is around the tank it stays right at the top but when there are people it comes to the front and swims, it is also eating normally, i'm thinking it has a swimbladder disorder/deformity from being a cross between 2 hybrids but i thought i might ask anyway just to be safe.
it doesn't sound bad yet. keep an eye on it. if it sits on the bottom or can't swim to the top, is upside down or swims in random directions, then it may have a swim bladder problem. it sounds to me like it is hiding from other fish. parrots beg for food alot. so do flowerhorns. i have alot of hybrids and have never had a swim bladder problem except for in pure bred africans. alot of times if a fish stays at the top, there is another aggressive fish bullying it.
had alot of kilins..real nice ones...always something goes wrong with their swimbladder and they jus go all over the tank..and i have noticed they have weak immune systems...i had 2 kilins with 3 parrots..and out of no where the kilins would get sick...get white spots..or lose color..and nuthing is wrong with the parrots..eventually they died..i was thinking about goin back to china town get some more..but i dunno if its worth it..
