When I had first setup my tank I put two Rosy Reds in. They were the only fish in there for a few weeks. One died after about 30mins and today I found the other one dead. I think my con killed it but I'm not too sure. It was pretty gruesome looking. The head was pretty much gone and the belly too. My con never really payed any attention to the rosy. I seriously doubt my eel did it.

I've never seen any aggression in the the tank Everyone kept to them self and did their own thing. I know it can't be a hunger issue because all of them got fed before I went to sleep. Now I'm really wondering what happened after the lights went out. Anyone have any ideas or this just a case of con being a con?

The Con could have done it or it may have just died like you said the first one did and then became a snack. The few fish I have had die always looks bad by the time I get home from work from the other fish looking at it like an easy meal.

My tanks been running for about two months or so and that first rosy died way back then. The other fish all look healthy water looks good with a WC to be done later on. The reason why I doubt the eel is because everyone says they have such small mouths so I didn't think he would be able to take it down.

I'm gonna chalk this one up to a con attack

How big is the Con and were they in the 29 in your sig? If so and the Con has some size to it I would say Con attack, They can get pretty nasty when they think they own the tank, I had to separate my pair the other day, my male was betting the crap out of my female as she would not stay out of "his" cave.

Lol, a 2 inch con will not go for a Rosy red unless it is already dead. Oh snaps I rhymed. ;) I r kwl.:headbang2

The Con wouldn't try to eat it but may kill it over territory

You're a poet and didn't know it.

Yeah, that's pretty lame but who cares :D

Convicts are typically aggressive cichlids that should not be trusted with fish that can't defend themselves against their attacks. Remember where you're at, even though convicts seem like ordinary relatively harmless fish compared to a lot of the fish on these message boards, there is a chance they will decimate the non monster fish population eventually if given the chance.
