Killies vs Goldfish

Hello!
I've heard it would save me a lot of money feeding my fish killies instead of Goldfish. My weekly goldfish bill is about $120. Does anybody have any opinions about why I shouldn't feed them killies before I make the transition. I am shell shocked about changing routine because I wiped out about 6 fish after feeding them blood worms although it was probably a bad batch.

$120? Either goldfish are expensive where your at or you're feeding a whole ton. Will your fish not accept preprepared foods, or do you just not like feeding them?

Any fish is better off with a staple diet of pellets, frozen foods, and dry foods. More nutritious and doesn't carry the risk of disease.

I can buy frozen fish at the store extremely cheap, and huge bags of frozen cocktail shrimp for like 10 bucks. Big bags of silversides at my LFS for 12 dollars. Krill you can either buy big cans online for 30 bucks, or buy in bulk which is cheaper (haven't done this yet myself been have seen quite a few people recommend it). A lot of big carnivores will eat massivore pellets which is a good staple.

If you do decide to keep feeding live feeders, then just about anything is better than goldfish IMO.

so u r saying u go through over 1000 goldfish a week? do ur fish a favor and stop that. killies would be better IMO

i am feeding 2 26in knifes 2 arro's 1 29in 1 22in 4 huges oscar's 1 20in tiger shovel nose 1 20in red tail cat. i feed them 800 med goldfish a week if i dont they start fighting it gets ugly.

hmmm, ever tried breeding your own rosy reds. I never did, but I hear it is easy and cheap

I would definately try switching to frozen storebought cocktail shrimp and fish and stuff. You're pretty much wasting your money on goldfish since they hold little nutritional value so you have to feed so many.
