Here's the deal. I have a 430g tank with a drip system that changes 35g's per day. I am currently running the water through a system of carbon filter and a chamber with a filter that is supposed to remove chloromines. I figure that all the chlorine and chlomines are being removed prior to my tank.

The question is this. Do you think it really matters? Given that it's less than 10% per day, and dripped in. Do you think that this ammount would actualy be harmfull? Thinking of just running the water through a few sediment filters and dumping the chloromine removal. These cartridges are getting kinda pricey, and would love to try to dump them. BTW this is all ran through a modified RO unit.

Thanks,
Chris

It should plateu though, and I'm thinking that maybe it will gas out at about the rate that it is introduced? Just thinking that it really is a comparatively small water change and hopping for the best. This is also assuming that chloromines are present..... Lazy me hasn't actualy tested for them. Just planned for the worst.

Damn. Sounds like I need to send my water out for testing in that case. Or are there kits easily availble to test for this?

Ok quick search yeailds quite a few test kits. Ill order one up right now. Hopefully it actualy does differenciate between chlorine and chloramine.

Just got off the phone. They add Chlorine, Floride, and some phosphate. No chloramines.

Did they say ammonia too?

Call back in a couple of days and see if you can talk to the people in the lab, introduce yourself and why you want to know and ask for their name. I've had office people lie out of ignorance before (they just picked one).

Im feeling pretty confident with this guys answer. The reason being that I live in a very small suburb and my call to the village ended with me talking to the Superintendant of Public Works. And he answered all my questions and even added some things that I didnt ask about. Seemed knowledgable. Maybe I can request some paper document listing the properties of my water. I know it's pretty hard, well water.
