so ive had a fahaka for about a month now, did lots of research on them before i got him, anyway i am currently setting up my 125 for him so he is in a 55 for about two more weeks. He was only about 1 1/2 inches when i got him, he has only grown about 3/4 inch in a month- he has no ich or ips healthy and active as can be, is this ok since everything i read says an inch to inch and a half per month for first year, i feed a variety of small ramshorn snails, bloodworms and earthworms

The reason he isn't growing an inch a month could be for many reasons... i.e. water quality, tank size, diet etc...

Anyway, you may want to also try feeding your puffer stuff like defrosted scallops, mussels, market shrimp or even live quarantined crays... the more varied the diet, the better it is for your puffer... especially as it starts getting bigger, its going to need a lot more food...

water quality is good o0 ammonia nityrites and nitrates, and while he is currently ina 55 he was an inch and a half when ibrought him home so i highly doubt thats it i tried shrimp and he ignored it and the crayfish i have in a 10 gallon now r all 2 times his size

A cycled tank should be showing some nitrate. What test kits are you using?

i didnt mean 0 nitrates i was just stating that i monitor the water and do regular changes, it always shows up less than 20ppm on a dip strip, i do 50 percent changes every friday, nevermind anyway cuz he grew close to an inch as its almost impossible to measure exactly and it was only his first month and he went from the wild to the wholesaler to lfs to my home so im sure it took him some time to adjust and he has really fattened and colored up so i will keep you posted, the tank was cycled and water was checked before i brought him home, he is starting to nibble on some shell on shrimp

^ You should maybe try some liquid tests as well.. since imo, test STRIPS just don't seem as accurate...
