I have been reading and viewing from your site for several months or so, but am just now introducing myself...
why now? I've read enough posts to know that I'm not the only novice here;) So here goes...
My name is Cheryl and I live in Fort Myers, Florida. Though always loving pictures, I have more recently begun to want to "learn" more, take better photos, and being a creative soul - take pictures as art. Some of my inspiration for this is 1] becoming an aquarist last year. I have a 55 gal Malawi Cichlid tank, 2 10 gal fry tanks (for the ever-populating yellow labs), a 65 gal Hex tank with Angels, loaches, pleco & lace cat, a 35 gal planted tank devoted to labyrinth fish (right now Pearl & Opaline gourami), and finally a 20 gal salt-water (just starting). And, 2] my 3 young grandchildren who I can never take enough photos of. I just got a Nikon CoolPix 7600 for Christmas and am just starting to read manual it's a couple steps up from my last digital].
Now, is there a place/threads on APF for any or all of the following?:
-Getting to know your digital camera
-Tips on photographing fish in tanks
-Photography 101, in terms of technical info such as aperture, shutter speed, etc
-Uploading photos to APF - so far I have succesfully done that in the gallery. How do you add the photos to your posts?

After reading another thread i created an account on PhotoBucket. I just attempted to insert the url in this post...so I guess I'll see if I did it correctly.
I'd like to thank any and all, in advance, for your insights, knowledge and patience as I embark on this new learning experience.
Cheryl

hi Cheryl, your image works fine for me.
glad to see you finally introduce yourself. Welcome to APF :)

Hey Cheryl, glad you are finally starting to chime in. Beautiful grandaughter.

You can ask questions in the forum folder "Photography 101"

You can post your fish photos in the "Aquatic Photography Forum" and hear what folks think.

You can post your other photos in the "General Photography Forum" and hear what folks think.

You can have a photo critiqued in either of the "Critique" subfolders in the above mentioned. Only one photo at a time there. And expect some very critical observations and suggestions.

Questions and sharing information about the camera and equipment can be done in the "Photography Hardware" Forum.

There is a very descriptive page showing the different forum folders in the APF forum home page area.

I think you will get the jist of it all after you start posting more.

Thank you all for the welcome. And thank you Bobby for the info. Going to play with my camera over the next few days and get some critiques. I'm sure that's a solid way to learn.
