I just got a new tank that is probly around 20-30 gallons, would I be able to keep a discus or two in there with an angel fish or is that over stocking and would an angel and discus be a bad idea? Verry new to fish that aren't in the piranha family or type of betta. I've heard that discus are hard fish to keep and they are kinda on the expensive side so Im kinda scared to try them out, but I would love one so much.

What are the dimensions on the tank? Tell more about how you plan to filter stock heat it. That could all help.

It;s an odd shaped tank it's like 3feet long a foot an a half deep and about a foot wide at one spot then it narrows down to like 6 or 7 inches wide here's a pic

and what exactly does "filter stock heat" mean?

Discus are very sensitive to water quality. As long as you maintain your water in check by frequent water changes, them rasing them shouldn't be a problem. That tank you have would be perfect for discus as they are vertical swimmers. But do some heavy researching on simplydiscus.com for some great info on discus........

I work you tank out to be almost 31 gallon. You could do a pair of discus in there perhaps with a small school of maybe 6 tetras. As BODYDUB stated, keep your water clean with regular water chages. Every other day with 40% water changed should be fine. Feed good quality foods and keep the water WARM, 30-32C.

"filter stock heat" means, I neglected to put in commas. It should have read; how you plan to filter it, stock it and heat it.
