has anyone kept them in an aquarium successfully? i dont have a saltwater tank but i do a LOT of freediving/spearfishing, and i see so many things out there that i think would make for really interesting tank creatures

King crabs get pretty big. I'd be willing to bet some restaurants probably have them in a tank, but that's not for the long term obviously. I know there's an Aquarium that keeps Japanese Spider Crabs in a tank, I think it's the Okinawa Aquarium but I might be wrong.

sorry forgot to say which one, the biggest caribbean king crab ive ever seen/caught had a legspan of 16 inches, so its not as big as its deeper living cousins, i spoke to another diver last night who specifically targets them, he said it'd probably be boring in an aquarium because for it to feel comfortable it would need a lot of live rock with a fairly decent sized cave, and it would hardly ever come out. in 10+ years of diving he only found maybe 5 outside of their holes.

Good to see another spearo on the board. Dont know anything about keeping bugs, but you should find my thread in the fishing section "Spearfishing" and add your pictures to it!
