The LFs has one and i like its appearance, and max size and would like to keep it with african cichlids. would the 7.8pH be a problem?

never heard of that kind before but a pleco is probably a pleco. ive had them in all types of aquariums from crystal clear to stagnant. one lived for two weeks in about 3 in" of water in my 55 gallon while I was moving once. they can adapts to a wide range of setups in my experience

That is a very ignorant, and incorrect statement. Loricariidae has hundreds of identified species, and range from sponge eaters, and wood eaters to meat eaters, and everything in between. There are huge differences in these fish.

The pH won't be a problem, but depending on the africans, they may provide the problem.

Yeah, not sure what you mean by that either...

That pH will be fine for them, but as Wyldfya said, depending on what africans you have, you may have problems. I know people do keep them with some species though.

most of my africans are the less aggressive types, i got a 2.5" clown pleco in with them without any problems.

If the africans aren't too aggressive, then you won't have a problem, given some good hiding spots. I have several plecos in with my front colony, and have no problems.

ive kept L66 in pH 7.6. 7.8 doesnt sound so bad, but your cichlids would like 8.0+ better. also L66 are omnivores and when i fed mine live black worms, they loved it. so please dont just feed algae wafers and let him eat the algae off your glass. really cool pleco
