I had one of these and he just sat in my fake plants for like 3 months not moving. Then one night i put some rosies in and he was the first fish to catch one. He ate it whole and then went back to eat another. His stomach was huge and then my cichlids ate him. I just wanted to know if anybody could tell me the scientific name of this catfish and any info on them. Thanks. :naughty:

I have never heard of a knife cat before. Sorry I cant be of mor help.

I'm pretty sure that would be some sort of Ompok spp. or Wallago spp. They come in all the time at work as 'knife cats' or 'bigmouth eel cats'. If it is, DON'T Trust it with any other fish!! Mine ate everything, even a pleco, and some of the fish he ate were as big as he was. They attack only at night, and you'll just see fish slowly diappearing left and right. Well, that was when he was 5" or so, now he's a 20" monster. Enough said? Do a google search for pics, I can't post them on this computer for some stupid reason. A very cool and unusual fish, I've been seeing them a lot more frequently in the last 3 months, they were only rarely imported till then. Good luck, and be careful!
