Can clown knife fish be kept together? I've read that they shouldn't because they have an electric organ used for hunting and their sonar waves would mess with each other...anyone know anything about this?

New world is The american continent.

Some Knives can be kept together. I have kept chitalas togehter, but in the majority of the cases it does not work. Depends on the individuals.

My lfs has like 10 clown knives in the same tank. But I'm pretty sure when they hit 10" or so they will kill each other. They also won't tolerate any other type of knife in their tank.

Large knifefish (18"+) typically won't tolerate eachother in the same tank once they hit sexual maturity. If they're fine now hopfuly they will stay that way, but my guess is eventually they will turn on eachother. Keep them well fed and have plenty of swimming space, they love roaming the tank at night and destroying your decor. As long as your tank is large enough for each knife to claim a territory aggression should be minimal. Hope you plan on having a massive tank for these two in the future (min 200gal). Great fish to own, amazing personalities. I regret selling my rck everyday, but needed the space for other fish.
