I have been thinking of a way to balance nutrition in a clown knifes diet.
I feed my clown knife pieces of cooked shrimp, veggie flake food, krill, brine, and also bloodworm's. This seems to be a well rounded diet of different proteins and some veggie nutrition.

I am trying to make a recipe to have at least three of these ingredients in one food, like the frozen fish mixes. Lets say i shred the shrimp and crush the flakes up and add a pinch of brine, then spread it out on a cookie sheet and freeze it. Then i can cut it into cubes and put it in a freezer bag and have pre-made portions of shrimpey veggie mix for my clown knife.

This seems like a good idea. Making your own frozen foods could save you time and money. It will also be less likely to overfeed and the knife will have a good nutritious mix. There are several mix possibilities.:)

Let me know if any of you have tried this. I am going to make a mix now, I will post my results. I will be feeding a small clown knife he is about six inches and he like all the foods listed above.

Good luck

Ok I made a small mix after the post.
I used
1 tbsp of dried blood worms and reconstituted them with water
15 frozen salad shrimp shredded up
1 tbsp of brine shrimp (frozen)
1 tbsp of tropical flakes for other nutrients

I mixed it all up in a small bowl then put it on a peice of wax paper and flatened it out and wraped it up.

I let it freeze then i cut it into cubes.

My clown knife didnt hesitate to eat the cubes, he gobbled them up lol.
This is a pretty good mix of nutrition for the fish and its fresh since you make it yourself.

I agree. In the next mix I will have raw shrimp.
I wasn't sure if it was "safe" for him at first, but i have read more and found thats what a lot of people use.

Thanxx
