I have a tank under quarantine for ich, with loaches, baby jurupari, and a bgk. THe loaches and the knife looked fine throughout the treatment, but just recently I noticed something weird. Their are white areas on my knife's side, like he is losing color. I have seen bacterial infections before, but it doesn't look like that. He is also acting odd (swimming upright, not usual hiding behavior). He isn't looking sick yet, just showing those telltale signs that something might not be right. All my sick fish are recovering fine, I don't know why he suddenly seems to have gotten worse. What do you think.

What were you medicating with?

rid-ich

sigh, the mark is spreading. I think he will die. A lot of my fish succumbed to this infection. :(

It sounds like a potential fungal infection. Can you get pics?

Body fungus is often a thin grayish coating of slime and can be treated with several products including Fungus Eliminator by Jungle, but this might be a different problem. Rid-ich is a formalin and malachite green combination and several types of fish including mormyrids and many knife fish are extremely sensitive to it. I have been told that it can damage the liver of these fish, eventually causing death.
