Knifefish ETC...

Are Glass or Transluscent Knifefish Rare??? I want to trade in my CK that is like 8" in for another Glass knife... mine is like 7" now... friendly for the most part... and very cool, he / she swims backwards a ton!!! Any other great species that are smaller and not really as aggressive as the Clown!?!?

a nice fish, but not rare. Eigenmannia virescens. Unlike some knifefish actually do really well together as a group
 
well i have only seen then available at one lfs, and never online anywhere... even though i dont have a CC and couldnt order online anyway, but i really want to get a few more Glassies.. there friggan awesome fish.. eat bloodworms and brine shrimp.. and can def handle there own even tho they look so fragile! i like the glass 100X more then the Clown i have...
 
nah a few people have them on here and they are all over lfs around me. they get to about 14" and males get bigger from what i remember. they do great in groups and they will spawn in captivity

And im sure many people on here do have rare species.. just cause some people have the fish doesnt mean that theyre not rare... and people in other countries may be restricted.. so also in that case.
 
Depends on your LFS and where your from.. They are cheap to import, but seldom seen in some areas, thus raising cost.

Theres lots of great small peaceful knifefish! My favorite is the Centipede Knife.. Inexpensive but not often seen.

I want one of those centipede knives! how big do they get? A small shoal would make a great tank.
