I'm working on setting up a bichir tank with a knifefish I have an albino sengalus and a fire eel and I'm going to get probably 2 more of the smaller bichirs along with a couple rope fish. The knifefish I'm looking at are

GYMNOTUS TIGER aka Tiger knifefish
Gymnotus carapo aka Banded knifefish
Gymnotus pedanopterus aka Zebra knifefish

I found a banded for $20 before shipping and a tiger for $85 before shipping but still looking for a zebra. What I want to know is what are their differences and what are your preferences? Also are those normal prices?

I have found this thread but would like more info

I like the clown knives and the royal clown knives even better but I fell in love when I saw the stripes and colors of the 3 knives I listed.

Yes it is the one at wet spot and it helps they have several low priced bichirs

yeah they are cool, I heard that the Banded knifefish is pretty aggressive.

African knives. I love mine and will heartily recommend them, especially if you want to see them during the day

I've loved all knifefish since I saw my 1st BGK but I like patterned fish a lot more than ones of solid colors
Makes sense. What size is the tank? Also gymnotus won't always take prepared foods so be careful with that, African Knives do

The tank they are currently in is 55 gallon before you say it yes it is way to small for them fully grown that is why I'm currently working on getting a 200+ gallon tank I just havent found the right one yet

Clownknifes easily get 24". And your little Senegal's will become feeders

That is another reason clown knifes were off the table
