Brachyhypopymus Occidentallis is more tiger striped than these. the body shape is reminiscent of Steatogenys, especially duidae. I think the difference between hypopymus species and steatogenys is that in steatogenys, the males have longer tails which are both indicitive of something about the power of their electrical current and a measure of their masculinity, being one of the reasons females choose males is the longer tail, which signifies that its tail hasn't been bitten off by something. Don't quote me on that though, I might have the names reversed or something, its been a while since i read the paper I'm recalling here. do some of them have longer tails/possibly seem to be more dominant?

also, does anybody here know of where theres a pictoral reference of the known Gymnotiformes species? cuz that would be real helpful here. But in all honesy, these are probably something some guy caught somewhere, and might be something we dont know about. You should buy all of them if you have the space and mimic a rainy season cycle in the aquarium. That would be badass

they are from my LFS here in the philippines. no definite ID?
