Are Black Ghost Knifefish and Fire Eels compatible with CA/SA Aggressive Cichlids? I have a Female Festae, Male Green Terror, Ornate Bichir, and a Flagtail and was hoping I could add either of these guys. Currently, these fish all range at about 5-8" and have good temperament. I have seen Fire Eels with Managuense and other large aggressive Cichlids, but I wanted some assurance that it can work in a 135 Gallon. I admit, I am concerned that the Black Ghost Knifefish will get its rear electric sensor bitten off as I have previously seen happen. I have previously kept a Black Ghost, but this was way back at the beginning of my hobby and I found it a new home after it took a chunk off of one of my Angelfish.

I should also add that I have a lot of hiding spaces in my aquarium, great places for an Eel or Knifefish to reside.

All input is welcomed and appreciated.

I have mine with CA/Sa cichlids but Festae and GT are more aggressive than the viejas I have with mine....I would say yes but you would have to get a larger sized one, they are very fragile when small.

I'd keep an eye on the ornate when the BGK is small. I had my 3.5 " BGK in a 180 gallon with, among others, a 10" TT and a 4.5" P. ansorgii. The tank is heavily planted with lots of hiding spots. Two days ago the BGK had part of its face ripped off and was relocated to another tank until he heals and grows larger. I suspect the BGK and ansorgii bumped into each other in the night and the ansorgii took a few exploratory bites, despite there being no way the BGK would fit in his mouth. The TT won't even bother fry in the tank.
