on an icecube.....
i thaught all BGK were WC but wile at my fave LFS i asked and they said they get in captive bred quite a bit dos anyone know if other knives are captive bred? and how do they breed i dident find mutch info on the net just one site with egg and fry pics from someone that bred them in his tank?

I know BGKs are being bred in asia, i believe albino variants of Notopterus knives are being bred (seen a few on the net and bought two from fugupuff, very pretty fish). I think clown knives are bred as well but i'm not positive on that.

As to breeding them i'd wager some of the bigger ones are hormone induced spawnings so they can get marketable quantities. thats just a guess though. I've been wondering about the idea of trying to grow my albinos out and seeing what i could try with them but damn they are growing so bloody slow.

I think the hormone induces ones are used for food purposes, clowns after all are a popular food fish.

Yeah i figured if they were it would be the CK. they are a food fish as you said and people tend only use hormones on larger species, or those with more than one type of value. Grow out for food, or sell the young for the aquarium trade.
