I just received a Herichthys pantostictus from Jeff Rapps today and I have a question. Do they generally hide a lot? I have only been able to see the fish for about two seconds so far. I did the acclimation then put it in the tank. It immediately went to the back of the tank behind some rocks. I haven't seen him since. I'm hoping he is still alive.

He will be, just scared, thats all. Give him a week or two and he'll shine up for you. Live food, quality food, low light etc may help him to be more secure.

Thanks, hope you are right. I still haven't seen him. :(

Do you have any other fish in there with him? Nothing like some active dithers to bring him out in the open

He finally came out and everyone else seems to be ignoring him. Looks like everything is going to be fine. :D

Wow, thats alot of big brutes in there, what size tank is it? Nice new addition. :)

It's a 210 gallon tank.

Well he is still out and seems to be doing fine except for the fact that he hasn't eaten yet. Do they eat pellets and flakes for everyone else?

did you get the 4" one from jeff rapps?
do you know if it's a male or female? keep us up to date on this fish - habits, diet etc.
he's in a tank with a lot of aggressive fish, so he might take some time to get acclimated.
