I currently have a 125 gal aet up with a 7 in Oscar and 4 goldfish about 4-5 in and a pleco. I was wondering if a koi about 10 in would be an issue with the oscar. The goldfish are moved to a larger outdoor pond in the summer months and kept inside for the winter .

why not leave your goldfish in the pond all year in the winter get a pond heater, it will keep your pond from freezing, and dont feed them but once a week. your oscar needs at least 80 degree temp

You can mix them thats ok, but understand that your goldfish produce alot of waste and adding a Koi will produce just as much and Koi do get big, so sometime down the road your going to have to put your Koi in a much bigger tank or an indoor/outdoor pond along with your goldfish.
Welcome to MFK

i put a pleco into my cold water tank... i was dumb, he died. Felt pretty bad because I didn't do the proper research before and was my fault.

Koi are happy in any temps from above freezing to 86 degrees. Anything above 86 and they start getting a little lethargic.

I am with the others though. Dig the pond deeper and keep the goldies and koi outside year round.

You might be like me though and grow your prizes to about 14 inches to keep the the predatory birds from picking them off.

you can keep an oscar without a heater and with koi and goldfish as long as your room temp is in the 70s or higher

84 degrees is lethargy actually. Anything above 86 = death

We thought of trying but not sure how sucessfull it would be . Our outdoor pond is about 1000 gal which is about 2.5 ft deep with about 1.5 ft above grade. In eastern canada this has froze to bottom in dec through april with jan temps -20 to -40 . A heater may work with a shelter roof over the pond to prevent heat loss and of course operating cost . The goldfish usually get moved outside May-Nov
