Koi eats centipede

Just fed a huge centipede to my Koi. Unfortunately, he's getting too big and I have to bring him to lfs. People at wal-mart said he would be fine for a 10 gal 4 years ago. Apparently the people at wal-mart think that if a fish fits in a tank, then the tank is ok. I wonder who I will feed the bugs to now....

That's the problem, he doesn't have a pond, he has a ten gallon tank, and he is about 6 inches! I am giving him to the lfs for cred.

Good thinking on your part. It is comforting to see that you are doing the right thing for the fish. You know you could always upgrade the tank until you can make a pond for him.

I need to upgrade tanks for other fish. Koi don't winter well in mn unless you have lots of aeriation. That could cost thousands. I sold all his tank mates to lfs and they are gone already. He'll get a decent home.

i like to hear about someone giving fish a bigger better home. i am currently trying to do this for my fish, as i didn't think everything through and have overcrowded my 29 gallon tank with cichlids. because of that i'm going to pick up a 55 gallon friday morning.

I can't believe I actually had a Koi in a ten. It was an awesome fish, but it just kept growing. This site taught me so much about keeping fish. I can't imagine how many people bought Koi, Pacus, Oscars, etc. at Walmart, never realizing the size they attain.
