Would I be able to keep koi fish I live in zone 9a
and in my other pond would I be able to keep redtail catfish

Koi will do great in there. From what I have seen is the RTC do fine during mild winters if they don't get ich. Then they die during a normal colder winter. Pond size doesn't seem to matter. I have seen the same struggles in 100'x50'x5' ponds. Some other good fish are hifin banded loaches, channel catfish, iridescent sharks, gymnogeos, red ciebals, jewel cichlids, swordtails, tinfoil barbs, rosy barbs, pacu, I have even heard people having more luck with TSN, but the sample size was much smaller and 9a near the 9b line.

thanks i have some rtc x tsn hybrids that I would like to put out there and the summer wouldn’t be a problem for the koi? Plus I would be able to move my pond in the garage for summer

Plenty of people keep koi out in the summer through the summer. As long as the pond is big enough it will be fine. Koi are pretty adaptable. They will grow fast and need more food than people in colder climates are used to.
