Would a koi be able to live in a 250 gallon pond for a 3 years. I know he would eventually need a bigger tank. The Stock would be 5 or 6 rosy red minnows, 3 goldfish and a small koi. Possibly a crayfish as a clean up crew. I know there is a danger of the rosy reds getting pick off by the crayfish.

Not at full potential. They can easily hit 1' their first season, 18" or more by the end of their second year. I never recommend buying anything that will require an update, there are too many things in life that prevent upgrades from happening when they should. Until you actually have a pond that is over 1,000 gallons, avoid koi.

Ok thanks, I think the max fish this pond could handle was a lurker that maybe 20 inches max. Im thinking bowfin. Do you have any ideas for fish that are odballs. The low in the winter is 20 degrees and the high in the summer is 95 air temperature. Its in my garage so he waters probably between 32 and 80.
