I'm bouncing ideas around in my head for a future tank project. I would love to have an oscar again, but have given thought to other fishies. The tank plan is for about a 140 gallons. Wonder if that would be good enough for say two Koi? I know they get large and need a lot of room. The tank plan is to be 5' long x 22" deep x 24" tall. Would like to hear many other ideas for stocking the tank.

My understanding is that a single koi needs a 1000 (one thousand) gallon pond or tank minimum and every extra koi you add needs another 100 gallons. They get 3 feet long so if I am off on my numbers, it would not be by much.

Just get regular goldfish that get a foot long, would work much better in a 140 gallon tank.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks for the info. The woman just put a hold on the 140 tank idea, but did give the full go ahead for a 75. Now to figure what will do well in it. All part of the fun is the planning stages. Haha

Obviously I need to do a lot of reading. One day in the future I might have some. Till then other projects abound.

Fancy goldfish aren't bad. A 140 gallons can hold at least 12 adult fancies. I have great preference for orandas. Had one that was 12 inches long. Check them out. :)
