Koi missing/stolen

Might not be people, masked bandits of the 4 legged variety. Had a friend install 1 foot electrified fence and the little buggers hung from a tree branch over the pond to grab fish.

My first thought was Heron but I'm hoping the staff has these koi well protected. In fact I think I heard them say the pond has a fence and they suspect more then one person was involved.

if they managed to steal a dozen 20 year old koi out of a public garden without any witnesses, they deserve them. but i agree vladfloroff, problly just a hungry critter that walked in on thanksgiving dinner.

Nope. Animals leave evidence (koi remnants, holes in fence). If it was a place that knows what they're doing (and they probably are), they would have built their pond with straights sides and be at least 3 feet deep. Animals can not catch koi in ponds like that. I know several koi keepers.

People will steal Koi, especially when they are over a foot. Can easily get 100+ for high grade koi. Find a buying and play the part of distributor, then steal them from someone else.

I would susupect a heron as well. These SOBs are relentless, and I doubt a fence would stop them.
I'm not exactly sure what made them jump to the conclusion that a person took the fish.

Our little masked buggers left no evidence. The only reason we know it's them is we saw it, swinging from a tree branch. When we searched there was a few remnants in the neighbors back yard but a ways away.

this was YEARS ago but my mums bfs brother had a huge koi pond, and imported this fat ugly one from japan for 8k!!! the next day herons had taken it.....lol

My sister lost all her koi to raccoons and they left no evidence. She didn't even know what was happening to them for a while.
