Wondering if someone could answer a question for me. My Koi had eggs hanging out of her last night. I thought she was dying. I do not see them today. Will the other Koi eat the eggs after they are laid or do they move them into plants? There are four comets in there as well and not sure if they got to them. If they are in there should I seperate them after they hatch?

Thanks for the help!!!

Yes everything will eat the eggs!

Koi are not parents & comets are always hungry.

Fish are to be removed after laying the eggs & males should have been removed earlier.

What do you have in the pond for the eggs to be hidden in?

Are you sure it was eggs?

How old are the fish?

How long have they been in the pond?

The two Koi are over 2 years old and the only plants I have in there are some bernice ikins and some Canna's. They have only been in the pond for about 2 mths. I did have them in a 55 Gallon Tank for a year and a half. The larger Koi about 18 inches long I just purchased two months ago. I am not sure if it was eggs. The fish was not swiming yesterday and just laying on the bottom of the pond on its side. It had something hanging out of its bottom that looked almost like seeweed, it was green, It was not waste though did not look the same. Do the males fertilize before the eggs are layed or after? I looked in there today and did not see anything. The fish is now swimming around and acting normal, comes to the side of the pond when I feed it and comes right to the surface.

Thanks for the help

The male fertilizes the eggs once they are released. Thousands are released.

Green from the bottom.....

Sounds like algae poop.
