hi i have a few koi 1 is about 8 inches with a calico color and one is about 4 inches and all white. i was just wondering, if i were to sell them what makes a koi valuable to a buyer. color? size. and what are they worth. im thinking of releasing these two in my pond but just wonder what they can be valued at/what makes them valuable. thanks in advance

lol koi from japan are more expensive, theres a lot of factors that affect the price though.. hopefully someone who knows more can help you out a lil bit.

The pricing on koi will vary several different ways...

1. Proven Blood Line (aka: Breeder)
2. Domestic or Import?
3. PATTERN
4. Size

I will post pics of 2 Koi (that are mine)- The first koi would probably sell for more in a local area with people just it in for the hobby because it is "pretty"; as opposed to the second koi which has a stunning show quality pattern. (ignore the quality of the pics.. )

It's all in who you are targeting. A buddy of mine is a koi dealer, and koi that are completely "pond grade" meaning not worth more than $8 are selling for $100+ on ebay, and nice koi go for $10. It's a bit backwards.

Posting pics of your koi would be best so we can judge them..

Bloodline and size are what determine price.

There are several different factors... and what the person is willing to pay.

Kodama Koi sells Japanese Imports, and there are many that only go for $100.
